Advocate

Another lesson that has had a lot of meaning for me this semester was the one on being an advocate for our children. Sometimes we teach them the best that we can, and they choose to go down a different and perhaps dangerous path. It can ba frustrating and saddening to see this, but we can not let our loved ones think that we love them less because of this. When we love our children and teach them proper values, right from wrong, how to treat others, how to take care of themselves, what they choose to do with that information is up to them. I have sisters who I love dearly who are making choices that are contrary to how our parent raised us, and I can see that they are not happy. In these situations all you can do is continue to let them know how much you love them, regardless of their choices. Let them know your thoughts and feelings about what they are doing, and then (this is the important part) let it go. We often find ourselves trying to press our thoughts and beliefs on those
